CM Punk vs. KENTA Is No Longer Being Planned for AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door

Although CM Punk vs. KENTA was the reported planned direction for AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door, that is no longer the case. 

In recent weeks, KENTA has noted that he doesn’t want the bout unless he’s paid big bucks. 

On Wednesday, Fightful Select reported that as of this past weekend, the match is off after “KENTA expressed to NJPW and AEW that he isn’t facing CM Punk at the Forbidden Door show.” 

As of this past Saturday, AEW was considering an opponent for Punk or if he should even be wrestling at Forbidden Door. Punk was open to the idea of the bout and there were other options being evaluated for him.
