CM Punk says to ask him about that Will Ospreay match if Ospreay still has the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship after the summer.

CM Punk left WWE the night after the Royal Rumble in 2014 and hasn’t looked back since. Proving to be one of the true outliers in wrestling, CM Punk has always stated that he is genuinely content in retirement.

In the past seven years, there have been many who have asked CM Punk about a potential return to the ring but the answer has always been the same, Punk says he will consider it if the business is right and the match intrigues him.

Perhaps, that match has been found.

CM Punk, during his one-man show at Starrcast III, singled out Will Ospreay as somebody he looks at and knows that he can work a match around. In the time since then, Will Ospreay has continued to poke the bear and attempt to call CM Punk out for an eventual return to the ring.

When he defeated Kota Ibushi for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, Ospreay once again called out the former WWE Champion, saying that now he has the biggest prize in the world and was offering Punk a chance at his gold.

In a new interview with Stephanie Chase of Digital Spy, CM Punk said that while he doesn’t want to give false hope, somebody should ask him the question again if Will still has the gold by the end of the summer.

“I don’t want to give people false hope in answering Ospreay,” Punk said. “But he’s for sure somebody that I’ve never wrestled before that interests me a lot more than, I guess, the corporate side of professional wrestling nowadays. New and different things are going to interest me more than doing the same old, same old. I always need new goals.”

“I don’t know,” he added. “Let’s see if he has it at the end of the summer and then ask me the question again.”

CM Punk will be returning to the ring in some fashion however as he will be a part of the cast of the show Heels which is set to premiere on Starz and stars Stephen Amell.
