CM Punk Reportedly Testing For Role On WWE Backstage
It has been years since CM Punk left the wrestling sphere behind, but they say that no one leaves forever. It’s just that Punk may be returning in a role few fans expect. WWE sourced have confirmed to PWInsider that Punk is shooting test footage for a role on the upcoming Fox Sports 1 studio show WWE Backstage. Fox has brought in numerous talents for roles on the program, including Rey Mysterio, Sean Waltman, Paige, and Taz. There is no confirmation that Punk has signed on to actually appear on the show.
If Punk does appear in the program, he would be working under FOX and not under a WWE contract. When talking at Starrcast III last month, Punk said that WWE had not contacted him for any role since his exit from the company, but he was willing to hear them out if they decided to.
WWE Backstage is a FOX production hosted by Renee Young and Booker T that serves as a news/discussion broadcast about WWE, similar to other sports programs.
