In a fresh dialogue with “Inside The Ropes,” wrestling star CM Punk recalled the dawn of his wrestling journey and his substantial encounters with the titans of WWE, including figures like Eddie Guerrero among others.

The main points from the interview are summarised below:

Reflecting on his interactions with icons of his era:

CM Punk conveyed, “In each of my interactions with the stalwarts of the wrestling industry that I had the privilege to step in the ring with, I have always strived to match their skill and stature. When in my budding years I received an opportunity to face a wrestler of the caliber of Eddie Guerrero, I was hit by the overwhelming realization of the vast gap in talents and experiences. Taking that as a learning experience, every time I had the chance to engage with a legend, whether it was a dark act with Stone Cold or a bout with Bret [Hart], I maximised the opportunity to learn and grow from it. For instance, asking Bret to incorporate the Sharpshooter move or challenging the likes of Rey [Mysterio] and others.”

On how those early experiences shape his current performances:

CM Punk elaborated, “My mindset has always been to raise the bar. Instead of expecting others to match my spirit, I think about the fact that life is unpredictable; for all we know, we could step out and get run down by a bus, hence, making the best of now is what matters. We all wish to excel in what we do and push our boundaries, setting the bar high for ourselves. Thus, if we’re all on the same path, aiming to supersede our own potential and, if others aspire to reach what they perceive my level is, it’s excellent. This collective motivation then translates into delivering the best content we can.”
