CM Punk and his fans finally got their ice cream bars, and it looks like it’s been in the works for quite some time.

As seen on Friday night’s episode of AEW Rampage, CM Punk made his long-awaited return to professional wrestling AND he gave fans free ice cream bars as a thank you. The delicious frozen treat was a callback to his past pleas to bring back the WWE ice cream bars, and now the ice cream maker says it wasn’t a publicity stunt, Punk really paid for all of the product given out to the Chicago crowd.

“The big moment- when @cmpunk thanks his fans for waiting, and to grab some ice cream on him. Were you there?! Since we have been getting a lot of questions, yes the ice cream was on him- it wasn’t a publicity stunt dreamed up by promoters. He came to us on his own and asked us to help him do this 2 years ago, and finally the moment was right. Our small team worked tirelessly to hand make every bar, and CM Punk wrote the check for the entire bill himself. That’s some real Chicago love right there, city of big shoulders, and big heart,” wrote the Pretty Cool ice cream company on Instagram.

The company also had a few of the CM Punk-themed ice cream bars available to order for pick-up at their store if you live in the Chicago area, but have promptly sold out.

During his post-show media call, Punk also explained what the ice cream bars meant to him, telling the audience that he was inspired by Andy Kaufman taking fans out for milk and cookies and former Red Sox and Cubs pitcher Jon Lester paying bar tabs in Chicago as a way to thank people for their support. Punk explained that “this is my way to say thank you to the fans” that supported him over the years.

Punk also spoke about his upcoming match with Darby Allin, as well as other names he’d potentially like to work with in the future. You can read his comments on the “dream situations” he sees himself in with AEW at this link.
