In a heartwarming gesture, WWE’s CM Punk honored WWE Hall of Famer and current NXT Chief, Shawn Michaels as well as the iconic first Hell in a Cell match during the WWE Bad Blood event in 2024.
This memorable event began with a victory for Punk against Drew McIntyre in the chilling Hell in a Cell match. This was Punk’s inaugural match in this daunting structure since his defeat of Ryback in 2013.
In a special tribute, Punk chose to don a gear reminiscent of the classic tights worn by Shawn Michaels during the very first Hell in a Cell match at In Your House: Bad Blood 1997.

In that historic match, Michaels emerged victorious thanks largely to the surprise intervention of Kane who marked his WWE debut by launching an attack on his sibling.
Throughout 2024, Punk and McIntyre have been embroiled in a fierce rivalry, with McIntyre securing a victory at SummerSlam. However, Punk reclaimed victory in a strap match at the Bash in Berlin event.
