At Fanatics Fest in New York City, CM Punk participated in a panel alongside Big E and Tyler Breeze. During a lighter moment, Big E suggested that CM Punk should aim to take over WWE NXT from executive producer Shawn Michaels. To this, Punk responded:
“I would prefer a more gradual approach. I would relish the opportunity to work under Shawn’s guidance. I certainly wouldn’t want him to just hand over the reins to me. My aim would be to learn from him and to understand his techniques and methods. With Shawn’s trust, NXT has largely been left to its own devices by Triple H. There is a significant difference between NXT and the main roster, so I believe it would be beneficial to familiarize myself with both systems, and I am sure I can learn from everyone involved.”
