In a candid conversation on ESPN’s ‘First Take’, renowned professional wrestler CM Punk unveiled his personal “top five” list of wrestlers from his perspective. Expressing his thoughts, he stated,
“You’re catching me off guard here, so this is my top five, alright? This isn’t about cultural significance or impact. But honestly, a lot of these do play a part in my choices — Harley Race, Terry Funk. I believe Steve Austin is the biggest superstar the wrestling world has ever produced. My list would include Eddie Guerrero… Ricky Steamboat.”
When noticed about the absence of popular figures like The Rock on his list, he clarified, “Remember, I grew up in the ’80s… Oh, my goodness. I’ll have to remove Steamboat. My apologies, Steamer, you know I respect you. Next, Roddy Piper… The reason I stepped into the wrestling ring is Roddy Piper. I watched Piper, I saw this petite guy who was amongst these gigantic figures. He was just trash talking, and I was like, ‘That seems like something I could pull off.’”
