The reigning NXT Women’s Champion, Roxanne Perez, strives to put a deaf ear to online critics, guided by the wise advice of her inspirational mentor, CM Punk.
During a recent interaction with interviewer Adrian Hernandez, Perez brought up the precious words imparted by Punk when she couldn’t help but be anxious about online reactions to her match. Her memories of their conversation transpired as follows,
“I do recall one of the first occasions that CM Punk managed to watch me perform live. I brought up my desire for some constructive feedback on my match, and he assured that he’d share it shortly.”
“He had taken a seat right beside me, engrossed in another ongoing match. As soon as it ended, there I was, scrolling fervently through Twitter. He leaned over to catch a glimpse of my phone and immediately advised, ‘Desist from focusing on these things. It’s irrelevant whether they adore or detest you. Your duty is to keep on showcasing your talent in the ring, and prove why you deserve your position.’”
Perez’s admiration for CM Punk is no hidden truth, and she has expressed profound affection towards Punk’s spouse – the ex WWE Divas Champion, AJ Lee.
In the coming NXT Battleground 2024 pay-per-view event tonight, Perez is geared up to defend her title against Jordynne Grace, making it a historic moment as it’s the first time a WWE championship will be contended by a wrestler contracted with TNA.
