Confirming wrestling’s worst-kept secret, Tony Khan, on this week’s AEW Dynamite, revealed that CM Punk will make his highly anticipated comeback on the debut episode of AEW Collision, airing on June 17th. This highly anticipated show will take place at the United Center in Chicago, Punk’s hometown and the same venue where he made his AEW debut and a return to professional wrestling after 7 years at AEW Rampage: The First Dance.

Punk is expected to be the focal point of Collision, with a “soft-roster split” anticipated between this new endeavor and the regular Dynamite programming. A point of intrigue and concern over recent weeks revolved around the involvement of producer Ace Steel and his role in Punk’s return, making for several bumps in the road.

Now, per a recent report by Dave Meltzer, both Punk and Steel will play a substantial part in shaping the creative direction of the show, particularly in storylines involving the former World Champion. Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter,

“The belief is Punk and Ace Steel will be heavily involved in the creative of the show. At least they will be for Punk’s stuff and the main angles and storyline on the show will revolve around him and obviously he’ll have great input into that.”
