According to a report from ESPN Sports reporter Ben Baby, Hamilton County Administrator Jeff Alutto recently disclosed that there was an attempt to bring WWE SummerSlam to Cincinnati, OH.

As an alternative, WWE SummerSlam 2024 will be hosted in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 3, instead of Cincinnati.

WWE SummerSlam 2024, one of the most anticipated events in professional wrestling, was almost held in Cincinnati, Ohio. However, due to a lack of response from WWE, the event will now take place in Cleveland instead.

According to a report by ESPN Sports reporter Ben Baby, Hamilton County Administrator Jeff Alutto revealed that there had been an attempt to bring WWE SummerSlam to Cincinnati. The 37th edition of this annual extravaganza was planned to be held at Paycor Stadium, provided that the necessary arrangements were made.

Alutto stated that the Cincinnati Bengals, the city’s NFL team, had reached out to WWE multiple times in an effort to secure the event. However, WWE failed to respond to their inquiries. Alutto expressed his disappointment, saying, “They did reach out several times. They said they didn’t call back.”

As a result of this lack of communication, WWE SummerSlam 2024 will now be hosted in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 3 instead of Cincinnati. This decision comes as a disappointment to wrestling fans in Cincinnati who were eagerly anticipating the event.

The news of WWE SummerSlam potentially coming to Cincinnati sparked excitement among local residents and wrestling enthusiasts alike. The prospect of hosting such a high-profile event would have undoubtedly brought economic benefits to the city, including increased tourism and revenue for local businesses.

However, it seems that WWE missed out on this opportunity due to their failure to respond to the Bengals’ inquiries. The exact reasons behind WWE’s lack of communication remain unknown. It is possible that scheduling conflicts or other logistical issues played a role in their decision.

Meanwhile, in Cincinnati, discussions are ongoing regarding the future of the Bengals’ stadium. At a recent Hamilton County Board of Commissioners meeting, President Alicia Reece emphasized the need for the NFL to invest significantly in the next version of the stadium. The current lease is set to expire in 2026, and Reece wants to ensure that the city secures a long-term commitment from the NFL.

While WWE SummerSlam 2024 may not be taking place in Cincinnati as initially hoped, wrestling fans in Cleveland can now look forward to hosting this prestigious event. The city will have the opportunity to showcase its hospitality and provide an unforgettable experience for fans attending the event.

As for Cincinnati, there may still be future opportunities to host WWE SummerSlam or other major wrestling events. The city’s enthusiasm and interest in bringing such events to their community should not go unnoticed by WWE or other wrestling organizations. With proper communication and coordination, Cincinnati could become a prime destination for professional wrestling in the future.
