During Saturday’s AEW Worlds End 2023 pay-per-view event, Christian Cage won the TNT Championship back from Adam Copeland after the latter dethroned The Patriarch in a dramatic turn of events.
The brutal and violent title match first saw Copeland nail Cage with a Killswitch to become the new TNT Champion.
Copeland’s celebration was short-lived, as Killswitch (Luchasaurus) blindsided him and chokeslammed the veteran wrestler onto a steel chair. It appeared that Killswitch, who had earned a shot at the TNT Title by winning the 20-man battle royal earlier during the night, was ready to cash in his title shot.
Cage rushed to the ring, demanding Killswitch hand over his contract for the title shot instead. Cage whispered something into his ear that caused the hesitant Killswitch to give up the contract.
Killswitch left the ring as Cage asked the referee to start the match. Cage speared Copeland and covered him to reclaim the TNT Title.
