Chris Legentil climbed the corporate ladder within WWE and by 2021, he claimed the position of the Senior Vice President, Head of Communications. In 2024, he added another feather to his cap by securing a promotion to Executive Vice President, Talent Relations and Head of Communications.
David Bourne, in an article he penned for the Sports Business Journal, elucidates how Legentil’s impact emboldens within WWE, with direct insights from Triple H and Nick Khan, WWE executives.
Triple H articulated, “Chris is an excellent communicator, He has a unique ability to deliver tough news diplomatically, and good news with genuine enthusiasm. That’s what makes him perfect for this expanded role. He’s not a gatekeeper — he’s a problem-solver. Talent knows they can trust him to get answers, not avoid conversations.”
The sentiment was seconded by Nick Khan who stated, “At WWE, we acknowledge that if no job is beneath you, then no endeavour is beyond your abilities. The sky is the limit for Chris.”
Bourne’s article throws light on Legentil’s multi-faceted responsibilities encompassing talent alignment with sponsorship opportunities, media appearances, public interviews, and community events. Moreover, Legentil is pivotal in realizing Paul “Triple H” Levesque’s creative vision by positioning the apt talent in appropriate storylines.
Talking about the experience of the ongoing nature of the WWE environment, Legentil revealed, “WWE runs 52 weeks a year. We’re always together, which influences how we work with our talent. Sometimes we’re brimming with good news, while other times, not so much. But regardless, we strive for respectful and equitable treatment in all our interactions. The tireless drive and talent of our Superstars never cease to amaze me even after four years.”
The story brought to the fore WWE’s increased interest in site fees and how cities are vying to host flagship events like WrestleMania. Legentil has been instrumental in spearheading this initiative by citing instances of how cities pay host fees for sports and other entertainment events. Khan backed him in exploring similar avenues for WWE.
Urging him forward, Khan instructed, “You’re the PR guy — you know our messaging and you understand the economic impact we bring to these cities, Go talk to them.”
