Swerve Strickland has been on a role in All Elite Wrestling in recent months, and Tommy Dreamer believes an AEW World Title reign could be coming soon.

Speaking on a recent edition of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Dreamer lavished praise on the former Isaiah “Swerve” Scott in WWE.

The Impact Wrestling star said, “I think another thing coming out of this, which I think is happening due to injury, [is that] Swerve Strickland’s a babyface. Coming out of this whole tournament and I think going into 2024, [it] could be Swerve’s time. If MJF is hurt like people say he is hurt, it may be time to take off the title, give it to [Samoa] Joe, then you have Joe and Swerve.”

As we previously reported here on eWn, MJF is dealing with a labrum tear in his left shoulder. Despite this, he will still be defending his AEW World Championship against Samoa Joe at the upcoming AEW Worlds End 2023 pay-per-view event.

Chris Jericho teamed up with Kenny Omega to face off against The Young Bucks at last month’s AEW Full Gear 2023 pay-per-view event, and the bout was positioned in a tough spot as it followed the brutal Swerve Strickland vs. Hangman Page Texas Deathmatch.

Speaking on the latest episode of his “Talk Is Jericho” podcast, the “Wizard” opined on having to follow the Strickland/Page match and how they were able to keep the crowd entertained.

Jericho said, “How do you follow that?. Well you follow it with a good story, and you build it to a point where Kenny Omega gets me down on the ropes, and then Nick Jackson’s down on the ropes, then he has to decide who he’s going to V-Trigger? He has to definitively make this choice if he’s going to stick with the Elite [or] if he’s going to go with the Golden Jets.”

He continued, “And he points at me like he’s going to take me out, but it was just a ruse, as he ends up nailing Nick Jackson in the face. I think that part of the match got one of the biggest pops of the night. It just goes to show you can drink blood to get a pop, or you could just point a finger with a good story and get a pop. So once again, I think we did a really good job of that.”

In recent months, Swerve Strickland has been making waves in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), and there is speculation that a World Title reign could be in his future. Tommy Dreamer, a former Impact Wrestling star, expressed his admiration for Strickland during a recent episode of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast.

Dreamer praised the former Isaiah “Swerve” Scott in WWE and suggested that he could become a babyface character in AEW. Dreamer believes that with MJF potentially injured, it might be time to pass the AEW World Championship to someone like Samoa Joe, setting up a potential feud between Joe and Strickland.

Speaking of Chris Jericho, the legendary wrestler teamed up with Kenny Omega to face off against The Young Bucks at the AEW Full Gear 2023 pay-per-view event. Their match followed the intense Swerve Strickland vs. Hangman Page Texas Deathmatch, which presented a challenge for Jericho and Omega.

Jericho discussed the difficulty of following such a brutal match on his “Talk Is Jericho” podcast. However, he explained that they were able to keep the crowd entertained by telling a compelling story. Jericho highlighted a moment where Omega had to decide who to attack with his signature move, the V-Trigger, ultimately surprising everyone by targeting Nick Jackson instead of Jericho. This twist received a significant reaction from the audience, proving that a good story can generate excitement without relying on extreme violence.

Overall, both Swerve Strickland and Chris Jericho have been making their mark in AEW. Strickland’s potential World Title reign and Jericho’s ability to captivate the crowd with storytelling demonstrate the depth and talent within the promotion.
