In a recent interview on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Chris Jericho voiced his high regard for Mark Briscoe’s extraordinary skill and revealed his intent to stand by him in achieving his full potential.
Offering his own insights, Jericho expressed, “I still cherish the industry. When I, and solely I, feel like I can’t add value at the top level, I’ll voluntarily step down. Everyone I collaborate with…I watched HOOK recently and thought, ‘This kid has matured and is truly starting to comprehend.’ Not solely due to me, but also due to working with Samoa Joe. We are collectively taking these people to new heights. Orange Cassidy is someone I shared the ring with after a gap of five years. Can we acknowledge his progression? MJF. Hangman Page. The narrative we’re initiating with Mark Briscoe is something I am truly delighted about.”
Taking the conversation forward, he stated, “In my view, despite Jay (Briscoe) not being with us, which is a true bummer, Mark Briscoe holds a unique place. He’s someone I want to fully support to ensure he progresses to the next league and make it known to the world that he is a prodigious talent. He’s working not merely for himself and his sizeable family with 18 children [laughs], but also in honor of his brother and Jaymin. We are bound to have a grueling face-off. He is unapologetically outlandish. A talent that truly resonates with the audience. I wish not to compare him to Dusty Rhodes as Dusty is unmatchable. Mark isn’t akin to an archetypal wrestler in looks or behavior. He is an exceptional talent and a unique personality. It is my aim to aid him in ascending to his true potential.”
The showdown between Jericho and Briscoe for the ROH World Championship is set to happen at AEW WrestleDream 2024.
