During the previous month, Chris Jericho astonished the audience by making an unexpected appearance at a CMLL event, where he challenged Mistico for a bout.
In an episode of “Talk Is Jericho”, his well-known podcast, Jericho offered an insightful explanation of his return to CMLL at Arena Mexico. You can find the key takeaways from the podcast below:
Speaking about his return performance at Arena Mexico, Jericho stated, “What I found most enjoyable was simply attending a regular Friday night show. They gathered an astonishing crowd of around 12,000, which is incredible. The audience was filled with joy, eager anticipation, and satisfaction. The cheers were for the heroes while the jeers were for the villains. They were engrossed in the entertainment and they were not caught up in chants like ‘You messed up’. Moreover, they were not concerned about ticket sales or television viewership, ratings, or any other extraneous considerations. Their sole motive was to relish the show. This was a rejuvenating experience for me and I’m grateful I took this decision.”
Sharing his views on the media coverage his CMLL appearance generated, Jericho commented, “Yet again, it’s something characteristic for someone like Chris Jericho. There were folks chanting ‘Please retire’, which is amusing indeed [laughs], and then I made my appearance in Mexico, and it instantly became the latest buzz in the wrestling community. My presence dominated the front pages of all the wrestling magazines and there were almost double digits news articles across different sports platforms announcing Jericho’s return. My return created quite a stir. It was indeed a prime time to make my comeback and it further fueled my enthusiasm to make a comeback. Understanding the global impact I possess, it’s comforting to know that I can revisit these scenarios at any time. And I thought it was the ideal time to revisit it. So, a big thank you to Arena Mexico, and hope to see everyone again in the near future.”
