Chris Jericho says 2.0 is officially All Elite.
Chris Jericho confirmed the news on the latest episode of his Talk Is Jericho podcast, which included 2.0 as the guests. Jericho started off this week’s show by noting that the team’s contractual status didn’t even come up in the interview at the time it was recorded because it was kept quiet, and explained how they were introduced in the first place.
“Matt Lee and Jeff Parker, they have debuted in AEW as 2.0, although they didn’t tell me that during this recording, it was a secret. They were Ever-Rise, the former WWE NXT tag team that just signed with AEW. Once again, they changed their name to 2.0 and the signing was such a secret like I mentioned, we didn’t even talk about it.”
Jericho says they all sat in his backyard and recorded the interview a few weeks ago, then briefly went over their journey through the wrestling business. Jericho pointed out that Kevin Owens was also friends with 2.0 and called in a favor to have them on the show before they even met.
Ever-Rise (then known in NXT as Matt Martel and Chase Parker) were released by WWE on June 25. They made their AEW debut on the August 10 episode of Dark, then made their Dynamite in-ring debut in a six-man tag team match where they teamed with Daniel Garcia against Darby Allin, Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley.
