The latest guest to appear on Gabby AF was Chris Jericho where he discussed a wide range of topics.
During it, Jericho noted that it’s just a matter of time before Swerve Strickland becomes AEW World Champion as he’s been in the title picture as of late. He is continuing his feud with current World Champion Samoa Joe coming out of Revolution. Jericho said,
“I’m a huge fan of Swerve (Strickland). I think eventually he’ll be our World Champion. I mean, it’s just a matter of time at this point and he’s got the cool factor, he’s new, he’s fresh, he can talk, he looks great. He’s a guy that could be a crossover super-duper star which is I think exactly what AEW needs to go to the next level is someone like Swerve or someone like Will Ospreay that people don’t really know but have the look, they have the uniqueness, they have the charisma and once again, I’m not just talking about inside the ring. I’m talking about outside the ring because that’s what wrestling is.”
In a recent interview on the podcast Gabby AF, professional wrestler Chris Jericho discussed a variety of topics, including the potential future success of Swerve Strickland in All Elite Wrestling (AEW).
Jericho expressed his admiration for Strickland, stating that he believes it is only a matter of time before he becomes the AEW World Champion. Strickland has been involved in the title picture recently, continuing his feud with current World Champion Samoa Joe after the Revolution pay-per-view event.
According to Jericho, Strickland possesses several qualities that make him a strong contender for the World Championship. He describes Strickland as having the “cool factor” and being new and fresh in the wrestling industry. Additionally, Jericho highlights Strickland’s ability to talk and his impressive physical appearance.
Jericho believes that Strickland has the potential to become a crossover superstar, which is something he feels AEW needs to reach the next level of success. He mentions another wrestler, Will Ospreay, as someone who fits this description as well. Both Strickland and Ospreay are relatively unknown to mainstream audiences but possess unique looks and charisma that could attract a wider fanbase.
Jericho emphasizes that his praise for Strickland extends beyond his in-ring abilities. He recognizes the importance of a wrestler’s presence outside the ring and their ability to connect with fans on a personal level. In Jericho’s view, this is a crucial aspect of professional wrestling.
Overall, Jericho’s comments on Swerve Strickland shed light on the potential future of AEW and the importance of finding wrestlers who possess a combination of talent, charisma, and marketability. As AEW continues to grow and compete with other wrestling promotions, it will be interesting to see if Strickland fulfills Jericho’s prediction and becomes the next AEW World Champion.
