Chris Jericho Discusses The Origin Of His Southpaw Regional Wrestling Character

AEW wrestler Chris Jericho was part of the WWE-produced Southpaw Regional Wrestling spoof series, and he discussed the origin of his character Clint Bobski on the latest episode of Talk is Jericho.

On Clint Bobski’s origins: “Clint Bobski has been in existence since 1989. When I was too young to go to wrestling school … I went to Red River Community College and took creative communications which is advertising, PR, journalism, television, radio, creative writing, basically everything that I still do, and we used to do like mock sportscasts for television class. I was always Bobski, it was a name I just loved.”

On trademarking the character when WWE didn’t: “[I looked into at the trademark office and] guess who had not trademarked the Bobski name or any of his family members? WWE… Clint Bobski is my intellectual property.”
