Chris Jericho Discusses Remaining Career Goals, AEW Focusing On Mid-Size Venues

Chris Jericho has had a remarkable run in the wrestling industry and recently unveiled his future objectives.

In a recent conversation with TMZ, Jericho, who currently holds the title of ROH World Champion, spoke about his unfinished business in wrestling.

Jericho suggested,“What I’m really looking forward to is continuing to make memorable moments and create new experiences for fans while continuing to evolve within this industry that I’ve loved since my teenage years. If you evaluate from the perspective of facts and figures, there is nothing left to achieve for me. However, if you’re looking at continuously absorbing and contributing, I aim to keep creating inspiring moments that people can reminisce and root for which are my remaining goals. I approach these goals on a daily basis because I’m committed and I’m not known for doing things half-heartedly.”

He added, “Whenever I take up a task, I ensure I give it my all because that’s what fans invest their hard-earned money on, especially around Christmas. I want to offer them an early Christmas gift in the form of a memorable show. People have numerous options for entertainment, but we are obliged to make sure they leave our shows with a sense of satisfaction, and that’s always been my ultimate goal.”

In his recent conversation on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast before ROH Final Battle 2024, Chris Jericho confessed to his unfamiliarity towards the ROH brand and a lack of awareness about its history.

Jericho, the ROH World Champion, expressed that he doesn’t resonate with the “nostalgia”aspect much.

About his unfamiliarity with the ROH brand: “I’m not quite the person to ask about Ring of Honor history. It appeared to be a spin-off of ECW. The people who passed through there were extraordinary talents. As for nostalgia, I’m not much into it. Bryan Danielson and others like him who worked there previously may prove to be better options. For me, what’s happening now is more important.”

Regarding his contribution to Ring of Honor’s media attention as champion: “In the three weeks that I’ve partaken in Ring of Honor, the brand has gained significant media attention. Tony [Khan] has a vision for what he intends to do, and I’m glad to contribute.”

In a recent podcast episode of “Z100,” Jericho expanded on AEW’s choice of hosting events in mid-sized venues rather than larger ones.

About AEW’s shift towards mid-sized venues: “One of the worst things in any business is overreaching. It’s smart to host some of our events in middle-sized venues as the energy from the fans is different there. If we can manage to fill a 10,000-people arena, we will. But even if we manage to sell only 5,000 tickets, performing in a 4,000-people arena makes the demand go up and the show seems more exciting and translates positively on TV.”

The reason behind AEW moving to more middle-sized venues: “Owing to the variety of choices people have today for live shows, we’re wise to adapt to different sized venues because it enhances the overall vibe. AEW has always had a ‘cool’ factor, but the demand-supply of tickets makes our product even hotter. It leads to sustainable growth.”
