Chris Jericho says he tested positive for COVID-19 but was lucky that he didn’t experience any symptoms from it.
Speaking to Dr. Alex Patel on Talk Is Jericho, Jericho confirmed he had the virus in the fall, unsure of the month. He went on to explain that it was not a false-positive test because he tested for it three times, but was lucky that he didn’t have any of the more severe symptoms that contracting the coronavirus results in.
“It’s interesting because I haven’t really told anybody this, but I tested positive back in, maybe September? And I had zero symptoms. I’m one of the one that you said, had my ten days in isolation and stayed away from everyone, and I didn’t have a symptom. I didn’t even know that I had it. I went and got a test in general, and it’s one of those ones where they said, ‘You’re positive’ and I went, ‘Really? Are you serious?’ I had nothing—I didn’t have a headache, I didn’t have a cough, which, I guess is a very lucky thing, but on top of that, once I did have it, and it wasn’t a false-positive because I took it three different times, but now I have the antibodies.
While he is unsure of the month he tested positive, it’s worth noting that Jericho did compete on AEW Dynamite and pay-per-view five times in September. Jericho worked a match against Joey Janela as well as the Mimosa Mayhem match at All Out against Orange Cassidy early that month, then participated in a tag team match with Jake Hager against Janela and Sonny Kiss on September 9 before returning to the ring on the 25th.
