Chris Jericho has stated that he thinks his extracurricular pursuits have contributed to protracting his professional wrestling career.
Chris shared his opinions while being a guest on “The Adam Carolla Show,” discussing how he keeps his life active. The wrestler enthused,
“From a young age, I always had two dreams – to become a professional wrestler and to be part of a band. I was fortunate enough to fulfill my wrestling dream, and then there was Fozzy. I had this conviction that we could make it work; all it required was proper dedication. And when something else pops up, [Carolla] would say: “Hey, this guy’s a success in wrestling and the band, don’t ever underestimate him.” That makes a lot of sense since once you’ve tasted victory in various endeavours, you’re more inclined to try new things, whether it’s hosting a cruise, launching a podcast, acting, or whatever it may be. In this era, versatility and diversity are crucial in your career as individuals tend to lose interest swiftly.”
He further added, “This is true even in wrestling. I am constantly innovating my character. Some observers say, ‘Jericho has an array of aliases.’ Absolutely, I do. If I were still playing Y2J from 1999, it would be extremely mundane now. Personally, I feel my longevity in wrestling can be attributed to several factors – Fozzy, Terrifier 3, Talk Is Jericho, the Jericho Cruise or a host of other ventures. Why should I reject anything if I perceive that it could succeed? Naturally, some people will always criticize you. But I rather focus on those who appreciate what I do, and aim to gain followers who share that sentiment. Once you focus on the positive, the negative becomes trivial, and success becomes more attainable.”
