In a recent episode of his podcast, “Talk Is Jericho,” Chris Jericho shared some thoughts regarding the introduction of new talent in the wrestling arena. Chris Jericho admitted that AEW sometimes forgets to properly introduce newcomers to the fans.
On his podcast, he shared, “I thought it was crucial to introduce myself just in case someone wasn’t already familiar with me. This is something that we at AEW tend to overlook at times. When we introduce a new face, it’s like, ‘Oh my gosh, it’s Zack Sabre Jr.’ but for some it might be like, ‘Who?’ If you reflect on my first-ever promo on October 2, 2019, which marked the inception of Dynamite, I clearly stated, ‘My name is Chris Jericho.’ This was done keeping in mind the possibility of people not knowing who I am.”
Jericho went on to elaborate, “Even as far back as 1999, which is two decades ago, just in case people didn’t recognize me, though many did due to the strong loyalty among fans, ‘We watch WCW. We watch WWE.’ I made it a point to introduce myself and state my purpose for being there.”
