On a recent episode of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Chelsea Green shared her thoughts about being part of the WWE NXT brand, comparing it to middle school, and her views on why young and emerging talent should show respect to the veteran wrestlers. Below are some key takeaways from the podcast.
When she spoke about the NXT brand, Chelsea didn’t mince her words: “NXT can be likened to middle school. Don’t confuse this with lacking in talent — in fact, the talents within NXT are among the world’s best. The things these women can do, I can barely manage 10 percent of it all. However, in terms of life education about the reality of WWE, the main roster, and the challenges of 24/7 travel, coming back from France to dive straight into a championship match, there’s still a lot to learn. When I become their champion, I intend to school them on this; to underscore to them that this business extends far beyond merely performing a series of front and backflips.”
On the topic of young talent respecting older, seasoned wrestlers, she had this to say: “I firmly believe that they don’t need to learn things the hard way, or face undue hardship when they join the main roster… We’re all in this wrestling journey together. I may kick your butt in the ring, but my respect for you remains undiminished. I understand what you have accomplished, I am familiar with your work history, your titles, and your contributions to NXT, and I admire all of that. In return, I hope you respect me and acknowledge my contributions as well.”
