Charly Arnolt (formerly Charly Caruso in WWE) recently discussed her longtime friendship with AEW President Tony Khan, stating that the door is open for her to sign with All Elite Wrestling.
Arnolt, who worked for WWE from 2016 to 2021, spoke with the Miami Herald and revealed how her friendship with Khan indirectly resulted in her getting the WWE gig.

On her friendship with Tony Khan: “Yeah, absolutely. I don’t think I would have ended up in WWE because it was never on my radar. It was never on my radar to apply to WWE. I was a fan in middle school, but I hadn’t been a fan sense. I was born in the traditional sports world, and that was the route I intended to go down. I simultaneously had a job offer to be a news anchor in Washington D.C. at a FOX-owned-and-operated station there. I happened to also then get a job offer from WWE after the introduction. I made the introduction through the time I was backstage with Tony. So yeah, the way that happened was not intended, but it was a great opportunity. I’m so thankful to have had it. In fact, Tony, since I got the job at OutKick, has already reached out to me and said he wants to be a guest on the show that’s launching this fall. So Tony is still a very close friend of mine, and love him to death.”
On if the door is open for an AEW appearance: “Oh yeah, absolutely. I think Tony has always left the door open there. I’ve been very just, and ESPN wasn’t so keen on letting me do other opportunities while I was under their roof. So yeah, potentially now. But then there’s also the idea of Endeavor, who owns UFC, who I already work for, now owns WWE. So listen, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some type of crossover happening with another wrestling company down the road. Who’s to say, right?”
Trent Seven has appeared on AEW TV a few times, and he recently discussed how his appearances came about.
The former NXT UK Superstar spoke with the “Touch Grass Wrestling” podcast about his AEW appearances and expressed his desire to compete at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door at some point in the future.
You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:
On his AEW appearances: “I had a couple of lovely matches there. Orange Cassidy, it was a weird one, if was very very quick. It happened almost overnight, the whole thing.”
On how the appearances came about: “Obviously, throughout my career, I’m me. I try and be a nice man. I try and talk to people and listen to them as much as I can. I love finding out about people and listening to their stories. I’ve been lucky to have met some wonderful people like Adam Cole. I have my own company, an Indie fed in the UK as well. Pretty much the whole roster has either lived in my house or I’ve wrestled them or I’ve bought a flight. It just pays back. When I walked into that locker room, it was 40 people who have lived in my house. I was (quite emotional). Not for me, but for them. Watching all these people that we [struggled] on the Indies and they are on good contracts, they’re making money. The AEW set up, at that point, was one day a week. That’s genius.”
On his hopes to get on a Forbidden Door show: “Forbidden Door is definitely a goal show to get on. The beautiful part of AEW is, you can dip in and out. Everyone, of course, common sense prevails, we all want a nice little contract. You don’t have to stress about everything, a little injury here, a little injury there, they all add up. It’s very nice to have the money come in every week, of course.”
