Charlotte Flair was in no mood to wrestle against Io Shirai tonight, instead defending her NXT Women’s Championship through disqualification. However, Rhea Ripley shocked the NXT universe and Flair by returning to launch a surprise attack against the champion.

During the match, Flair grabbed a kendo stick from underneath the ring. Despite protests from the referee, Flair launched an assault on Shirai with it, causing the match to end in disqualification. However, Flair continued to assault Shirai before Ripley came running down to the ring. Once down by the ring, Ripley threw Flair away and yelled at Shirai to get away. Despite being angry at Ripley, Shirai followed after her up the ramp.
