In December 2023, professional wrestler Charlotte Flair had to pause her wrestling career due to a severe knee injury involving a torn ACL, MCL and meniscus.
During her recent appearance on the “Forever Young” podcast, she opened up about the impact of her injury and how she has been coping with it. She candidly expressed her initial panic, how she felt her life was over and likened it to a ‘perfect storm.’ She cited the unexpected challenge of the situation, but maintained that it’s also been an opportunity for learning and growth. Fittingly known as “the Queen,” she vowed to return as an enhanced version of her character and employ her time off to reassess her persona and approach.
Here is what she had to say: “When it first happened, I thought my life was over. I was like, ‘oh my gosh, a perfect storm’. I’ve found it a challenge, but one that will benefit me in the long run. Never not being able to rely on my athleticism has been a tough adjustment for me. But for me, it feels very vulnerable. However, I believe that in the long run, it’s going to be better for me.”
In a related matter, Big E, during a separate appearance on the “Hawkcast,” reflected on his tenure as WWE Champion. He admitted that during his reign, he faced pressure to change his persona but chose to stay true to his choice.
He shared his perspective as follows: “I always wanted to be a one of one and no one could put all the elements of what I do together. I got feedback like, ‘You can’t do this, you can’t look like that, you can’t cut promos like this. You’re gonna really have to change.’ But no, I fought to be myself. I want to do things my way, because I can sleep at night. If I fail or if I sink doing it my way, I’m okay with that.”
