In 2024, Charlotte Flair was absent from the ring for the entire year due to a knee injury she incurred in the latter days of 2023.
Flair marked her comeback by clinching a victory in the 2025 Women’s Royal Rumble, thus securing her spot at WrestleMania 41.
Simultaneously, during her recovery period, Flair secretly started the process of her separation from her spouse, Andrade.
Recently, while conversing with Sherri Shepherd, Flair was questioned regarding her approach to handling the scenario.
Flair confessed, “I fell short. I felt like I was underperforming in my career. I felt like I was underachieving in my personal life and the shame of facing another divorce and being juxtaposed to my father. Let me compose myself. When I decided to file for divorce, all I wanted was to keep it private. ‘My god, I have failed again.’ Then, my knee. As women, and I think men too, everyone would be pondering…‘She’s going to come back a year older. She will be diminished. She’s coming back from this knee ailment.’ Sadly, the WWE audience hasn’t seen the resurgence of Charlotte Flair. This hasn’t been a redemption journey for Charlotte Flair, but it feels like one for me because I’m overcoming everything I have feared, been ashamed of, and critiqued for, publicly, because everyone has an opinion, regardless of lack of factual knowledge.”
The marital journey of Flair and Andrade began in 2022 and ended in divorce in 2024.
She went on, “I discovered my value. It’s fine to be vulnerable. That’s the lesson I learned. It’s okay to pause, to begin anew. I managed to keep the divorce under wraps until my successful comeback, my Royal Rumble victory, and my appearance on Monday Night Raw with the tagline, ‘Hearing from Charlotte Flair after her Rumble triumph and spectacular comeback.’ Bam. Everything I was dreading unfolded that day. The battle is over. I have nothing left to combat. This is the real me, I’m standing confident in my worth. People are entitled to their opinions. To the audience that follow wrestling, they are unaware of the struggle Charlotte has faced to achieve her stature, but I am aware. For Ashley, this is my most significant comeback.”
Flair is set to face Tiffany Stratton for the WWE Women’s Title at WrestleMania 41.
