Tony Khan, the entrepreneur behind the wrestling promotion company known as All Elite Wrestling (AEW), added Ring of Honor to his portfolio in 2022, causing ripples of conjecture among enthusiasts regarding future plans for the wrestling brand. With his leadership in the past two years, Khan has initiated numerous pay-per-view events for ROH and established a weekly program showcased on HonorClub.

Khan has always been vocal about his plans to cultivate talent within ROH, which is noticeably diverse from WWE’s methods of handling former WCW talents. As the current head of AEW, Khan has persistently displayed a strong commitment to infusing fresh concepts and distinctiveness into the ROH brand.

During a guest appearance on the podcast “John Arezzi’s Mat Memories,” Cary Silkin, the one-time-owner of ROH, voiced his concerns and dissatisfactions regarding the brand’s current affairs and Khan’s recent treatment of the ROH brand.

Silkin opined, “Ring of Honor of that era tried to show some respect to professional wrestling. Sure we had some wacky stuff. Sure we had the the flippy dippy do was coming into fashion. The flippy dippy do was going on with Édouard Carpentier too…Ring of Honor, there was some good pro wrestling going on in that segment of it. Right now, Ring of Honor it’s like no one cares at all. I don’t care how much money Tony Khan has. It’s not being treated very well.”

It is worth mentioning that a number of ROH wrestlers have conveyed their disappointment with Khan’s approach towards the wrestling brand since he took over the helm from Silkin.
