On WWE SmackDown, Giulia was officially welcomed to the team. Nick Aldis, the General Manager, proudly introduced her as the latest member of the SmackDown roster during the Friday’s broadcast.
Giulia’s induction was revealed in a backstage scene featuring Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair, where Giulia had a quick face-off. Subsequently, Giulia took to social media, confirming her new role at the forefront of the SmackDown team.
During this week’s episode, Tiffany Stratton victoriously defended her WWE Women’s Championship title against Nia Jax. With Naomi and Jade Cargill’s interference leading to a crowd fight, Stratton managed to secure her win by delivering a kick to Jax’s face, followed by her ‘Prettiest Moonsault Ever’ move. Since January 3rd, when she claimed the title by cashing in her Money in the Bank briefcase, Stratton has held the championship for 134 days.
JC Mateo, formerly known as Jeff Cobb, also made a victorious WWE in-ring debut, defeating LA Knight during the Friday night’s episode of SmackDown. Mateo clinched his win over Knight with a powerful scoop powerslam.
Earlier in 2025, former WWE Women’s Champion Carmella, or Leah Van Dale, left WWE after her contract wasn’t renewed. Carmella’s last match was in March 2023, after which she was unable to participate due to health complications following the birth of her child in November 2023.
In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Carmella talked about her departure from WWE, citing her inability to perform. She expressed an uncertainty over her situation, stating that in the past injured players were not released, but the practice seems to have changed. Although her injury didn’t occur in the ring, she feels it was unfortunate that she wasn’t given an alternate role to succeed, given her tenure and understanding of the business.
