During a recent episode of the “Insight” podcast, Carmella, a WWE Superstar, reflected on the period when she was paired with R-Truth for WWE programs. She expressed,
“Working with R-Truth was an absolute delight. He is not just a professional gem but also a wonderful person with a vibrant personality. We were always engaged in fun, whether we were on-camera or off-camera. It was a pleasure to improvise and come up with spontaneous ideas which were outside of the script, and it was quite enjoyable to complement each other in that regard.
We always kept people guessing and they were always excited to see what we would do next. From wearing costumes and disguises to finding ourselves in the silliest of situations, I loved the fun, entertaining aspect we brought to the show. By that time, I had already experienced being the Women’s Champion and had made my mark in the ring. That gave me the scope to show what I could do as a character, to be goofy, and portray my comic timing through our interactions.”
Previously, Carmella and R-Truth were teammates in the second iteration of the Mixed Match Challenge and ultimately emerged as tournament champions.
The duo maintained their alliance in 2019 and both of them had multiple stints as WWE 24/7 Champion.
As of now, R-Truth holds the title of one-half of the WWE World Tag Team Champions. On the other hand, Carmella has not been on the wrestling arena since March the previous year. She recently became a mother with the arrival of her son Dimitri in late 2023.
