Carlito returned to WWE at the Royal Rumble earlier this year. Making it his first appearance inside a WWE ring in over a decade. The WWE Universe was under the impression that he would be back full-time, but after his appearance on RAW the night after the Rumble, we haven’t seen him on WWE television since.
There were rumors at the time that Carlito was being given a tryout as a producer for WWE. But it appears there was no truth to those rumors.
Carlito recently sat down with Joe Karni of The Angle Podcast to discuss his WWE career. When his appearance earlier this year came up, Carlito shockingly revealed that the company hadn’t contacted him since his appearance in February.
“It was just the Rumble, and I think the day before the Rumble, they asked if I can do RAW too, and I said yea, sure, whatever you guys need,” Carlito said. “That’s all we talked about. It was RAW and the Rumble. I’ve had no communication since the RAW appearance.”
When Carlito was asked if he would even be interested in the rumored producer position, he admitted that it was something that intrigued him:
“ Yea,” Carlito said. “A producer role or a trainer role. All of that kind of sounds intriguing. I’m willing to listen to whatever at this point, but I think those would be interesting helping out the younger guys and help them develop, which would be something new for me. I think I’d find it fun to do.”
Karni also asked Carlito if he’s open to signing with another wrestling company besides WWE, specifically name dropping All Elite Wrestling:
“Yea, I’m open, you know, I’m open to whatever,” Carlito said. “Whoever wants to use me, I’m willing to listen, but like I said, I’ve been doing my own thing for all of these years, and if it stays that way, I’m fine with that too. No, no talks with AEW either. It is what it is, man. I don’t know.”
