In a recent episode of “WWE Retrospective,” wrestler Carlito reflected on his WWE debut and shared insights into his wrestling journey. One notable revelation from the program was that fellow wrestler John Cena had suggested Carlito use his signature “Backstabber” move as his finishing blow.
Carlito recounted, “I took a liking to the backstabber. I didn’t use it as a finisher initially. I remember Cena was one of the first ones to point out its potential. He said, ‘Man, that looks like a great move. You should use it as a finisher.’ Initially, I was hesitant, but Cena continually encouraged me. I finally agreed as I realized no one else utilized the move in the same way. From there, it just took on a life of its own.”
Veteran WWE commentator Tony D’Angelo also recently appeared on “The Ringer Wrestling Show.” The reigning NXT North American Champion expressed his intentions to infuse an Italian aesthetic into his title, aside from musing about arranging a business meeting between the notorious character The Don and Shawn Michaels.
Concerning his plans for the title, D’Angelo stated: “I’m going to approach Shawn (Michaels) with a proposal to incorporate some Italian elements into the title. While the belt does look phenomenal as is, I believe the inclusion of red, white, and green could make it pop even more. Let’s wait and see how it pans out.”
D’Angelo further elaborated on his plans for Michaels: “I’m intrigued to see if The Don could arrange a business meeting with Shawn. However, if I do set that up, I might bring Luca and Stacks along, not to intimidate Shawn, but they are my business associates after all. Especially since Luca is a lawyer and he can handle the contract details. We’re looking to infuse some Italian charisma into the mix.”
