As for my perspective…
Most Disappointing Aspect of MITB 2024
Even though I understand the rationale behind each outcome, it doesn’t necessarily mean I am in agreement with all of them. Several decisions received my endorsement, but one in particular left me unsatisfied.
Was it absolutely necessary for a babyface to emerge victorious and gift Sami Zayn a win in Toronto? Personally, I think the Intercontinental Championship should have gone to Bron Breakker instead.
A title victory for Breakker would have created some serious stir in Toronto. But isn’t that what a heel is supposed to do? Now, WWE has two paths in front of them: Either not award the title to Breakker, which I think is wasteful considering his popularity and potential, or set up a redundant rematch post a clean loss, dragging the storyline for a few more weeks.
Zayn didn’t have to lose here with no stakes at SummerSlam. Breakker not winning a second attempt would only demote his character before its elevation, which seems unnecessary.
I’m not convinced that Zayn’s victory was the best choice here.
Most Exciting Moment of MITB 2024
I’m sure a few fans were dismayed by Drew McIntyre’s failed cash in, but to me, it was the high point of the event.
While the women’s ladder match certainly commanded attention, the compelling twist of Drew’s disappointment in his failed Money in the Bank cash-in at WrestleMania (even though it was somewhat predictable) and his subsequent failure thwarted by CM Punk, has moved the storyline forward in an intriguing direction.
Although a few other contenders for the briefcase might have presented some interesting narratives, I believe WWE did a commendable job in narrating a cohesive story with this unsuccessful cash-in. Moreover, it does not diminish McIntyre’s image like many failed past cash-ins, such as with Baron Corbin or Damien Sandow.
This has elevated my interest for a Punk vs. McIntyre showdown and I am equally keen to see how Punk’s inadvertent obstruction against Seth Rollins plays out and how this shapes SummerSlam.
So, what are your picks for the high and low points of this year’s Money in the Bank? Share your perspectives in the comments and let’s keep this discourse alive!
