Bully Ray & Tommy Dreamer React To The Rock Not Being Involved In The John Cena/Cody Rhodes Feud

The WWE feud featuring John Cena and Cody Rhodes has been ongoing, yet The Rock’s presence has been quite noticeable due to his absence ever since the Elimination Chamber: Toronto event. Wrestling veterans Bully Ray and Tommy Dreamer, however, don’t seem too fazed by this.

Despite a significant shift in Cena’s character and a surprising alliance formed with The Rock during the Toronto event, The Rock has remained conspicuously absent from WWE broadcasts. Cena and Rhodes have also barely mentioned his name.

Bully Ray and Tommy Dreamer recently shared their thoughts on this ongoing storyline on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast. Here are some interesting points they made during the show:

Bully Ray’s perspective on Cena’s upcoming absence from several RAW editions: “I don’t think that’s a bad idea [Cena not on Raw]. I kinda like it. Allowing Cody to take the stage — Cody had a really impressive night recently, let Cody continue this momentum for the next two weeks. The next time we see Cena, things are going to heat up and hopefully — hopefully — we don’t see Rock until WrestleMania. I don’t want to see The Rock in Sacramento [the final Raw before WrestleMania 41], I don’t want to see The Rock in Minneapolis [next Raw]. For me, it’s like watching Star Wars. When the emperor appears, it carries weight. The Rock’s presence should be impactful.”

Tommy Dreamer on The Rock’s peripheral role in the feud: “For me, even though there was a suggestion on Instagram that The Rock was in the UK — I was waiting for The Rock’s theme tune to kick in just before they got physical. But still no word about The Rock. They did shout ‘you sold out’ but the reason why wasn’t hinted at. I don’t have a problem with it, man, it’s like a tantalizing carrot. If the mention of Rock is just to lure fans to tune in to ‘Raw,’ it’s going to succeed.”
