In a recent episode of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Bully Ray, a prominent member of the WWE Hall of Fame, shared his thoughts on the unveiling of the new WWE Crown Jewel Championship.
Here are some notable excerpts from the podcast:
Discussing the new title, Bully Ray said, “You know how I feel about the over-saturation of championships in the entire world of professional wrestling. However, I don’t really see this one as just another championship. It’s more akin to the King of the Ring trophy, or a tournament trophy, something unique for Saudi. The Saudi shows always try to present something special or different, it’s essentially like an a la carte option… The two company champions battling it out, I get it. I’m curious as to whether they will carry these championships with them wherever they travel.”
On the topic of how the winners may be perceived, he inquired, “What if GUNTHER wins? Would Cody respond if that happens?” He then added, “To clarify things a bit, if you’re going to label it ‘the best of the best,’ I would’ve stated, ‘you have proven that you’re the best of the best for that evening.’ This is because creating the impression that your World Heavyweight Champion could ever defeat your Undisputed Champion might suggest that the World Champion is superior. This causes ambiguity.”
