Real1, formerly known as Enzo Amore, has recently shared his dissatisfaction with calling matches in the wrestling ring, finding it not enjoyable. He revealed this during a conversation with Buff Bagwell.
Real1 confessed, “I haven’t called a match in ages, and I did just recently, to me, it was frustrating. It wasn’t fun at all. It was just one high spot following another, and I wondered, ‘Where is the thinking phase?'”
He went on to speak about his current role, saying, “I completely enjoy what I do now, which is matchless in the industry. Many know it, even if the indie circuits don’t want to admit it. If you’re part of a match with me, you’re going to quietly listen, and I’m going to deliver you one of the best matches of your life.”
Elsewhere, Bully Ray believes Joe Hendry should have been crowned as the TNA World Champion at TNA Bound For Glory 2024. Hendry is now preparing to square off against Nic Nemeth at the TNA Genesis 2025, the following month.
While appearing on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Ray expressed concerns that Hendry’s momentum had slowed down, while the co-host, Tommy Dreamer, backed TNA’s current plans.
Highlights from the podcast are as follows:
Bully Ray on Hendry’s TNA trajectory: “I feel TNA missed a golden opportunity with Joe Hendry a few months ago. He should have already been the World Champion; his stock was rising… Joe didn’t seize the opportunity nor did TNA take full advantage of Joe Hendry.”
On Hendry’s diminishing momentum: “Currently, is Joe Hendry’s popularity anywhere near what it was few months ago?”
On Hendry and Jordynne Grace’s declining popularity outside TNA: “Joe Hendry is quite popular among TNA’s fans. But his and Jordynne’s popularity has greatly reduced as compared to when he was on NXT… These are my thoughts from six months ago.”
Tommy Dreamer on Hendry’s TNA trajectory: “His presence on NXT gave him a larger platform and that’s why we keep discussing him. I have deliberately created the ‘Steve Austin’ scenario and the fans genuinely love him.”
