Bully Ray has critiqued WWE’s handling of the aftermath the post-Bad Blood assault on Cody Rhodes by Kevin Owens, stating it did not benefit the this week’s RAW episode’s ratings.
The attack by Owens on Rhodes followed WWE’s latest pay-per-view event. Feeling disgruntled with Rhodes’ readiness to partner with Roman Reigns, Owens lashed out.
In a Twitter post, Triple H noted that internally resolving the issue was the course of action the WWE would take. This tweet was subsequently publicized and deliberated during the broadcast of Monday Night RAW.
During an episode of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Bully Ray questioned the WWE’s decision to publicize this so-called ‘internal’ situation. He expressed,
“I don’t want to pull the curtain back too much on them. I want the fans to be able to let their brain run away with them and get captured in the moment of ‘Wow was that real?'”
“If they’re ignoring it, they’re likely hoping it’ll blow over quietly… That’s what creates an aura of legitimacy and makes it feel authentic. That’s why I was disappointed when they displayed Triple H’s statement… What good did that do you?”
Bully Ray further implied that WWE could have achieved an equivalent impact by hyping up this incident to a massive extent, while avoiding television coverage. He suggested,
“You can create as big of a buzz on social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram as you can on television.”
In spite of WWE’s declaration to address the issue internally, Rhodes was probed about the incident on RAW and announced that he would tackle it on SmackDown.
