Bully Ray Expresses Interest in Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins Match at WrestleMania XL

On a recent edition of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray discussed Cody Rhodes’ promo segment with Seth Rollins this week on WWE RAW.

Rollins encouraged Cody to challenge him for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XL.

You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:

On how WWE hasn’t built up a rematch between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns: You can want to avenge the loss, but there has been nothing since the loss. There’s been no build with Cody. They haven’t told me the story of Cody losing sleep every night because of that loss. We haven’t had that Brandi and Cody moment like Rocky and Adrian, where Rocky has that self-doubt and Adrian tells him, ‘Come on. You can do this.’ There’s been nothing there.”

On wanting to see Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins now instead: “Cody lost to Roman. He won the Rumble. And now, we’re assuming he’s going to make the challenge to Roman. But after hearing that Seth promo — and guys, this is my emotions as a fan now — I’m like, ‘Wow. This is what I want to see.’”

During the RAW segment, Cody informed Seth that he would think sincerely on the offer. WWE has not yet announced the main title bouts for WrestleMania 40, so it remains to be seen who Rhodes will face. Cody Rhodes won the men’s Rumble match last Saturday to earn a title shot against the champion of his choice at WrestleMania 40.

In a recent episode of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray shared his thoughts on Cody Rhodes’ promo segment with Seth Rollins on WWE RAW. Rollins had challenged Cody to face him for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XL.

One of the points Bully Ray raised was the lack of build-up for a rematch between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns. He mentioned that while Cody may want to avenge his loss, there has been no storyline development surrounding it. Bully Ray highlighted the importance of telling the story of Cody losing sleep every night because of that loss, similar to the iconic Rocky and Adrian moment where Rocky experiences self-doubt and Adrian encourages him to keep going. However, according to Bully Ray, WWE has failed to create such a narrative for Cody.

Bully Ray also expressed his desire to see a match between Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins instead. Despite Cody winning the Rumble and seemingly being on track to challenge Roman Reigns, Bully Ray was captivated by Seth Rollins’ promo and felt that a match between Cody and Seth would be more intriguing.

During the RAW segment, Cody Rhodes responded to Seth’s challenge by stating that he would sincerely consider it. As of now, WWE has not announced the main title bouts for WrestleMania 40, leaving fans curious about who Rhodes will ultimately face. It is worth noting that Cody Rhodes won the men’s Rumble match, granting him a title shot against the champion of his choice at WrestleMania 40.

The discussion on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast highlights the importance of storytelling and character development in professional wrestling. Fans are invested in the emotional journey of their favorite wrestlers, and a well-crafted narrative can enhance their connection to the performers and their matches. While the outcome of Cody Rhodes’ decision is yet to be revealed, fans eagerly await the announcement of the main title bouts for WrestleMania 40 and the potential clash between Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins.
