Bully Ray strongly believes WWE should consider having Cody Rhodes as the headline act for SummerSlam if they truly back the WWE Champion. This comes in light of Rhodes’ scheduled defence match against Solo Sikoa in Cleveland. Speculations are also high regarding the much-anticipated return of Roman Reigns.
As part of a recent conversation on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Ray shed light on why WWE should place their bets on this match being the main event. He stated,
“It is your most coveted title in the leading wrestling organization globally. Unless there’s a match with some compelling feature … I’m of the opinion that nothing should supersede the championship bout.
“Please don’t assert that Priest’s championship carries more weight than Cody’s at this juncture. Cody is your man; he is your champion and deserves the final spot.
“The confidence in your world champion needs to be strong. If you’re making statements like ‘Cody shouldn’t be the final act because we might have a Roman Reigns comeback, then why is Cody sporting the championship belt?”
Several possible alternatives stand out for the SummerSlam main event, including a face-off between World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest and GUNTHER and the highly anticipated encounter of CM Punk against Drew McIntyre.
WWE’s SummerSlam is all set to take place on August 3rd, from Cleveland Browns Stadium located in Cleveland, Ohio, marking the city’s second hosting of a SummerSlam pay-per-view event.
