On a recent edition of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Bully Ray criticized Seth Rollins’ opening promo segment on the Fastlane fallout episode of WWE RAW.
Ray stated that Rollins did a horrible job at selling the aftermath of his title matchup against Shinsuke Nakamura at WWE Fastlane 2023.
You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:
On how Seth Rollins didn’t do a good job of selling his injury on WWE Raw: “These are the things that annoy me. You killed the credibility of the match, and the believability of the [back] injury. You killed everything Shinsuke Nakamura did to you — bumps off of ladders, going through tables, falcon arrows through tables … everything … and not even a limp? Not even a grabbing of the shoulder? C’mon! We all know the WWE and Seth Rollins are smarter than that.”
On the lack of selling in wrestling: “I’m sick and tired of the lack of selling in this industry. Whether it’s selling in the ring in the moment, or selling afterward. It is just uncalled for. This is not ‘old man screaming at the clouds’ — this is what’s right.”
On the message WWE sent with RAW: “All you did last night was tell me, ‘Forget about Fastlane.’ And that’s the truth.”
Rollins will defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Drew McIntyre on November 4 at Crown Jewel 2023 in Saudi Arabia.

Seth Rollins Criticized for Lack of Selling in WWE Promo
On a recent episode of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, former professional wrestler Bully Ray expressed his disappointment with Seth Rollins’ opening promo segment on WWE RAW following the Fastlane event. Ray criticized Rollins for not effectively selling the aftermath of his title match against Shinsuke Nakamura.
According to Ray, Rollins failed to convey the impact of his injuries sustained during the match. He pointed out that despite Nakamura’s brutal attacks, including falls from ladders and going through tables, Rollins showed no signs of injury or pain. Ray argued that this lack of selling hurt the credibility and believability of the match.
Ray’s frustration stems from the broader issue of selling in professional wrestling. Selling refers to the ability of wrestlers to convincingly portray the effects of their opponents’ moves and actions. It adds realism and drama to the matches, making them more engaging for the audience. Ray emphasized that selling is an essential aspect of wrestling and called for its proper execution.
Furthermore, Ray criticized WWE for sending a message that undermined the significance of the Fastlane event. He argued that by not acknowledging the aftermath of the pay-per-view, WWE essentially told fans to forget about it. This lack of continuity and storytelling can diminish the impact of previous events and weaken the overall product.
Despite the criticism, Seth Rollins will have another opportunity to defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Drew McIntyre at Crown Jewel 2023 in Saudi Arabia on November 4. It remains to be seen if Rollins will address the concerns raised by Bully Ray and demonstrate better selling in his future performances.
