Bully Ray – Damian Priest Cashing In On Cody Rhodes Would Cause A “Revolt”

WWE should be careful not to anger fans by having Damian Priest end Cody Rhodes’ first WWE World Championship reign, Bully Ray has warned.

At this year’s WrestleMania, Rhodes failed to ‘finish the story’ when he lost to Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns in the main event of Night Two.

Many have suggested that this loss was done to set up Cody’s inevitable victory at WrestleMania 40 in April 2024 in Philadelphia.

On “Busted Open Radio,” Tommy Dreamer said that the ‘John Cena Effect’ may result in fans turning on Rhodes before making it to WrestleMania 40.

Bully Ray responded that he believes Cody’s slow burn of returning to the title picture will pay off for fans who have invested in him. He said,

“I think enough has been taken from the fans. I believe they had too much taken away from them [at WrestleMania 39].”

Ray added that a win at WrestleMania 40 will mean more because of this year’s loss and that Damian Priest cashing in immediately after Rhodes’ win would cause a “revolt.”

Priest captured the Men’s Money in the Bank briefcase at WWE Money in the Bank earlier this month in London. Rhodes would defeat Priest’s Judgment Day ally Dominik Mysterio at the event.
