Wrestling legend and WWE Hall of Famer, Bully Ray, expressed his discontent with the opening scene of the recent RAW episode. The segment in question featured prominent stars CM Punk, Seth Rollins, and Drew McIntyre.
Rollins, during the segment, made his intentions clear. He declared his authority to arbitrate the SummerSlam 2024 match between Punk and McIntyre according to his perspective.
Ray voiced his disapproval of the segment on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast. Quoting Ray verbatim, “It was exasperating to listen to those three grown men arguing continuously. ‘Bap, bap, bap, bap. I despise you. No, I despise you. No this, no that.’ It’s about time they stopped talking and started fighting. That’s the issue with the segment.”
According to Ray’s perspective, banning Punk and McIntyre from engaging with each other or Rollins undermined the excitement and anticipation. He elaborates, “With Rollins’ warning, you’ve instantaneously deflated my enthusiasm as a fan. You’ve explicitly told me not to anticipate or get hyped for something like an initial show brawl, a pulled aside fight, a DDT, or anything similar. Nothing is expected to transpire because any disturbance means the match gets canceled, and everyone knows the match won’t be canceled for SummerSlam. So, essentially, you’ve told me as a fan, to sit down, keep quiet, and pay attention to your rhetoric.”
The SummerSlam 2024 matchup marks Punk’s return to the ring post his triceps injury during the Men’s Royal Rumble. Interestingly, McIntyre has claimed responsibility for Punk’s injury.
