On a recent episode of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Bully Ray and Tommy Dreamer discussed the currently progressing collaboration between WWE NXT and TNA Wrestling.
In the past few weeks, wrestling stars such as Jordynne Grace, Frankie Kazarian, and Joe Hendry have featured on WWE NXT, while Tatum Paxley has made her presence felt on TNA Impact.
Here are some notable excerpts from the podcast conversation:
Bully Ray commented, “The advantage is 60-40 in favor of ‘NXT’. But, I do believe it is beneficial for TNA. As ‘NXT’, the larger organization, it provides an opportunity to TNA, the smaller entity, to play in their field. If you can perform in their field and you’re receiving 40% of the attention, it’s quite significant. Considering it could be fairly straightforward for TNA to venture into ‘NXT’ space and ‘NXT’ simply dictate, ‘This is how we are doing it, whether you agree or not.’ … However, I believe ‘NXT,’ and Triple H, and the decision-makers, are showing great generosity.”
Tommy Dreamer expressed, “These are alternative methods of looking after your talent. Because you won’t declare, ‘Hey, we didn’t win the Super Bowl’ … What is the reaction when they cover the runners up? ‘Gosh, when we arrived, 40,000 spectators were at the airport celebrating us, praising the spectacular game we had… I don’t pay heed to such matters … but I am aware that networks do.”
