AEW’s imminent ratings plummet has got fans voicing their dissatisfaction; so says veteran wrestler Bully Ray. The promotion’s ratings continue to plummet, making a clear indication of fans’ thoughts on their product.
Ever since AEW Dynamite tapped the one-million viewership mark more than two years back, something its President Tony Khan took pride in showcasing over social media, the show is witnessing a dwindling viewer base.
On an episode of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Bully Ray discussed the current AEW ratings and what it means for the company’s future. He remarked,
“Right now, fans are telling AEW that they don’t like the product that they are being given… Not only in the ratings, but in the houses.”
Bully Ray further shared that more and more unrealistic expectations are being set by AEW, likening it to an inappropriate movie order. His opinion was,
“They have blown through everything. Watching AEW right now is as if you started with the first, like, four or five installments of the Fast and Furious, and then you ask somebody to sit down and watch The Godfather.
One company is relying on old-school rules of professional wrestling and that’s the WWE. Don’t be the alternative and get away from the pillars and foundation of what pro wrestling is.”
While acknowledging that streaming might be a factor leading to the dip in ratings, Bully Ray stated this accounts for a negligible percent of the fan base.
In the latest WWE NXT edition at the ECW Arena, Bully Ray was featured in the primary event of the night, aligning again with D-Von Dudley. The program managed to increase its viewership compared to the previous week, while AEW Dynamite, aired the same night, experienced a dip in viewership.
