Marcus “Buff” Bagwell was arrested on May 22, according to The Georgia Gazette.

The former WCW star was taken into custody in Cobb County, Georgia on several charges and, according to police records, subsequently released on to a bonding company on Saturday night.

The charges are as follows:

  • Driving under the influence of drugs (Misdemeanor)
  • Failure to yield when entering an intersection (Misdemeanor)
  • Following too closely
  • Hit-and-run; duty of driver to stop at all return to the scene of accident (Misdemeanor)
  • Duty upon striking a fixed object (Misdemeanor)
  • Reckless driving
  • Driving within a gore or median or emergency lane (Misdemeanor)
  • Giving false name, address, or birthday to a law enforcement officer (Misdemeanor)
  • License to be carried and exhibited on demand (Misdemeanor)

The charges bring to mind the traffic collision Bagwell was involved with last August. The police report at the time stated that there was reason to believe Bagwell was driving under the influence leading up to the collision:

The Cobb County Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a serious injury traffic collision that occurred on Cumberland Boulevard east of Cumberland Parkway on Sunday, August 16, 2020, at 5:18 p.m.

According to investigators, a black 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling west on Cumberland Boulevard, approaching Cumberland Parkway when the driver lost control while negotiating a curve. The Chevrolet Tahoe collided with the center median and metal fence within the median before continuing west across the eastbound lanes. The Chevrolet Tahoe then collided with the curb before colliding into a free-standing bathroom at the Cobb County Transit (CCT) bus station.

The driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe, 50-year-old Marcus Bagwell, was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries. Investigators believe Bagwell was impaired by prescription medication during the collision.
