Recently, Bryan Danielson made an appearance on “The Jas Johal Show,” where he shared his preferred wrestling environment—a smaller setting with fewer audience members for a more intimate experience.

Here are a few key takeaways from the discussion:

Discussing his fondness for smaller venues, Danielson shared, “This liking didn’t happen all at once. I wrestled in small crowds, but I also went to Japan, a place where wrestling is hugely adored. In 2003, I performed in the Tokyo Dome for New Japan, a place filled with around 35,000 fans. However, I have also performed in much smaller setup with an audience of a few thousands at times. You see, I had experienced both extremes. It’s strange to perform on a high-level platform where you are the favorite wrestler among thousands.”

Talking about the intimacy of small venues, he added, “What’s humorous is my love for the personal touch. I prefer smaller, packed venues when it comes to energy. The aura of a small, crowded building appeals to me more than a 35,000-people Tokyo Dome two-thirds full. This is also how I prefer my music. I’d prefer to attend a cozy, intimate concert. However, my wife loves the massive energy of a stadium or arena, like a Guns N Roses concert. For me, the preference is intimacy. This is a matter of reaching out to those in the furthest seats. This, in itself, is a unique skill. Certain people, like John Cena, Kenny Omega, and Adam Copeland, are masters at it.”

It’s worth noting that Danielson is scheduled to participate in the AEW Double or Nothing 2024, representing Team AEW alongside Eddie Kingston and FTR. The babyfaces will compete against The Elite, which includes The Young Bucks, Jack Perry, and Kazuchika Okada, in an Anarchy in the Arena match. The event will be held on Sunday, May 26, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, and it will be broadcast live via pay-per-view.
