Bruce Prichard has been forthcoming about his opinions regarding the “Mr. McMahon” docuseries. He has shared his initial displeasure with the preliminary versions of the episodes, which he considers to be a ‘gotcha’ piece.
Well before the filing of Janel Grant’s lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE, Prichard sat down for an interview for the Netflix documentary series, with the interview taking place in January of 2024. It’s intriguing to note that Grant’s lawsuit was lodged just two days following Prichard’s interview, and on the subsequent day, McMahon exited from WWE.
The question of whether the preliminary cuts witnessed by Prichard underwent any changes before the final episodes aired remains shrouded in uncertainty.
Here are a few noteworthy excerpts from Prichard’s podcast, “Something To Wrestle With”:
In response to his initial opinion about the preliminary episodes, he said, “Thought they were poor quality. They lacked balance completely. I perceived them as a gotcha’ piece. Everything was aimed at portraying Vince in a poor light. It seemed a deliberate move to make him look bad here and there. Being closely involved, it’s personal.”
On the subject of what he believed the initial cuts lacked, he stated, “There was no representation of the humanitarian aspect. Vince is fundamentally a businessman. But he also has a compassionate side. When my wife was diagnosed with cancer, Vince ensured she had the best medical care. She was predicted to live for just four more years. That was 24 years ago. It happened because Vince McMahon insisted that she receive the best treatment possible. Instead of focusing on his life and story, the documentary seemed bent on portraying him as a villain. Had he been one, I wouldn’t have hesitated to acknowledge that, but he isn’t.”
