In a recent conversation with “TVInsider,” Britt Baker discussed the speculation surrounding her and the reaction of the public on social platforms.
After an interval from television post All In London 2024, Britt Baker is poised to make a comeback to AEW on Dynamite’s new episode tonight.
Find excerpts from the conversation below:
On her mysterious disappearance from AEW, Baker stated, “I can’t offer a solid explanation other than that I was defeated and relegated to the back of the line. This is something I’ve emphasized many times during my addresses as a champion. It’s a tough pill to swallow when you find yourself in this position.”
The process of training to regain her ring form is discussed by Baker, “I must mention that no amount of gym exercises can sufficiently prep you for action in the ring. The AEW has a very rigorous clearance protocol. Three months prior to my return, I was in Orlando with Bryce Remsburg, training twice a week with Serpentico. The way he pushes himself to train others and helps them return to the action is commendable, he truly deserves more recognition. Also, I trained in Atlanta with several wrestlers including Darian Bengston, Carlie Bravo, and The Renegade Twins. The match against Mercedes was my second in somewhat a year. I am eager to return to regular TV wrestling and aim to be the pinnacle of the women’s division once again.”
Regarding the speculation and online criticism she faced, Baker said, “We live in an era where any absurd rumor can become truth in the eyes of many. People will believe it and even accuse me of those actions. It is frustrating since I am passionate about wrestling and AEW’s women’s division. However, you have to accept the fact that you can’t control public opinion. I welcome constructive criticism, but I believe that fans need to express it healthily.”
Finally, on her future objectives for the women’s division, Baker mentioned, “Storytelling is vital in achieving our goals. The audience is no longer satisfied with just excellent wrestling, they need a narrative to connect with. I commend Tony Khan for his effort in building these narratives. We now have a plethora of female superstars that are either loved or loathed by the fans. I am optimistic about the future of our division.”
