The “D.M.D.” Era is here, as Britt Baker defeated Hikaru Shida to win the AEW Women’s World Championship at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view.

Shida entered the show with a reign that spanned 371 days. Baker has slowly risen to the top of the rankings in AEW, but she has claimed that she’s the face of the women’s division for several months.

Baker went for the Lockjaw early on, but Shida had it scouted. The two women exchanged technical holds, and the bout was evenly matched early on.

Shida then took control with a diving crossbody that took Baker and Rebel down.

But Baker gained the upper hand and stomped Shida. By slamming Shida into the corner, Baker maintained the advantage.

With a flurry of offense, the match swung back in Shida’s favor. She tried to lock in a Stretch Muffler, but Baker reached the ropes. The two women kept going back and forth, and neither one could firmly gain the upper hand. Rebel distracted Shida, but the champion used the interference in her favor; she dodged a crutch shot, and Rebel accidentally blasted Baker instead.

After another distraction, Baker stomped Shida on the belt for a near fall.
